Nokia Won’t Drop Symbian for MeeGo Says Nokia Head
The other day we posted an article on Nokia dropping Symbian^3 on their Nseries devices, you can refresh you memory on that by hitting (here) However apparently this is not the case and Nokia will not dump Symbian^3 for Meego.
According to an article over on Mobile Today, Nokia’s new head of mobile solutions, Anssi Vanjoki has inststed that they will not throw out Symbian^3 for Meego on the Nokia Nseries smartphones, and furthermore pledged to return Nokia to the number one position in the high end segment.
A statement reveals some confusion in Nokia as to which OS will go on their Nseries devices, with Vanjoki stating that a Symbian^4 Nseries is a “strong possibility” despite a statement from Nokia last week which said Symbina would be replaced by MeeGo as the preferred OS for Nseries handsets.
However, apparently Nokia has declined to comment on whether the statement by Vanjoki is a U-turn in their policy, and a spokeswoman said…”In his first day as the head of our mobile solutions unit, Anssi Vanjoki alluded to the possibility of an Nseries device based on Symbian 4. I cannot comment beyond what Anssi has said.”
