UK Going 4G Government Committed
Over in the good ole US of A 4G rollout is well underway, while over here in the UK we haven’t really heard much about our own 4G rollout; however apparently yesterday the 8th of June the UK government stated their commitment to a 4G rollout, and a decision on that can be expected before the summer recess of Parliament.
According to a Jennifer Allan article over on Electric Pig, the Conservative MP for Windsor, Adam Afriyie, asked in writing, Ed Vaizey, the Secretary of State for Business Innovation and Skills, “What steps he is taking to support the roll-out next generation mobile broadband services.”
To which Ed Vaizey answered…“The coalition Government are committed to releasing spectrum to support the next generation of mobile services. A decision on the approach will be made before the summer recess.”
Thus far in the UK only O2 UK is testing 4G with the aid of Huawei, but as yet there is no word on a full commercial rollout of 4G.
