Probably a one off; Virgin Mobile kicked off their new “Red Glove Service” by getting Sir Richard Branson to act the delivery boy and personally deliver a new BlackBerry smartphone to a Virgin Mobile customer who had broken his original device.
According to an article over on Intomobile by James and by way of Mobile Syrup, Sir Richard Branson unveiled the new Virgin Mobile service by knocking on Adam Morrison’s door and hand delivering the new BlackBerry.
Virgin Mobile’s red glove service is a pilot project only in Toronto at the moment which delivers replacement devices to its members, and apparently Virgin Mobile staff will even set up the device, transfer all your contacts and info over to your new handset and make sure everything is ok before leaving.
Sounds like real good customer service to me, but don’t go expecting Sir Richard Branson to be knocking on your door. We have a video of Sir Richard making that delivery to the Virgin Mobile customer…enjoy.
