Trapster is a mobile phone application for several mobile platforms including Android, BlackBerry and the iPhone, and apparently can alert motorists to the locations of the new RTA mobile speed cameras.
According to an article over on Smarthouse by David Richards, he received 4 messages on his iPhone with each message alerting him on mobile speed cameras on the “North Shore, Paddington, Parramatta Road and on the Hume Highway.”
The Trapster app is a free GPS based application that is being used by drivers to identify mobile cameras, police , speed cameras, and booze busses and the user notifies others of police activity as and when they pas a location.
Apparently the RTA commissioned 6 mobile speed cameras that incorporate Canon lenses that can identify 6 speeders simultaneously and can be used in any of the 151 locations. What the NSW Government has failed to do is explain why it isn’t necessary to warn motorists on mobile sped cameras when they do warn about fixed speed cameras.
