One of the big problems with a smartphone is if you happen to drop your device a few times chances are you are going to break the glass screen, which means the touch screen will not work, but if Samsung have anything to do with it, breaking your smartphone touch screen may become a thing of the past.
According to a Casey Chan article over on Gizmodo by way of Oled-Display, within 2 years Samsung is planning to launch a display with an AMOLED plastic panel as switching to plastic would make the AMOLED display unbreakable.
So how’s it done? Well apparently Samsung puts a thin film transistor on the plastic panel and replaces the protective vinyl sheet with a polyimide film, which means although you can still break your glass screen if you drop it, but the touch screen underneath the glass will continue working.
Check out the short video below of Samsung testing the new AMOLED panel by whacking it with a mallet numerous times…enjoy.
