Looks like Motorola is keeping up with their license with Lucasfilm for using the term Droid for the original Motorola Droid , as they are to push out a Star Wars edition of the new Motorola Droid 2 on Verizon Wireless.

According to an article over on Engadget by Chris Ziegler, the word is the Motorola Droid 2 will see launch on the 12th of August although it is expected to be a soft launch as apparently marketing efforts will kick in as of the 23rd of August.

As for that Star Wars Edition Droid 2 well the device will sports every Star Wars fans favourite little droid, R2-D2 on its rear, although it is not known at this time whether the Star Wars edition will launch the same time as the stock Motorola Droid.
