For all you Droid hungry fans over there in the states, Verizon Wireless had finally gone all official with the new Motorola Droid 2 smartphone by issuing a new press release in which Motorola Mobile Devices and Home Business chief, Bill Ogle says… “With the new DROID 2, we’ve taken a big leap forward from the original DROID.”
According to Andrew Munchbach of the Boy Genius Report, the new Motorola Droid 2 will be available to purchase online as of tomorrow and in Verizon Wireless stores as of Thursday the 12th.
As earlier reported the Motorola Droid 2 will ship sporting the latest Android operating system, Android 2.2 Froyo with pre-installed Adobe Flash 10.1, the rest of the Droid 2 specs you probably know so I won’t go over old ground here.
The Verizon Droid 2 will command a retail price of $199 after a one hundred buck mail in rebate, and there will also be a special edition R2-D2 Droid 2 hitting sometime in September for all you Star Wars droid fans out there.
