RIM Offers India Info and Tools to Track BlackBerry Data

Canadian BlackBerry maker Research In Motion is facing a ban of BlackBerry devices in certain countries over what is being called security issues, I’m sure you’ve all heard about the reasons for the treats to ban BlackBerry.

The latest country to issue an ultimatum to RIM is India whereby the Indian government has told RIM they have until the 31st of this month to comply with their demands. However according to an article over on the Wall Street Journal, Research In Motion has offered India tools and info to help the government keep tabs on BlackBerry messages and emails.

According to the article back on the 26th of July, according to an Indian government summary, reps from Research In Motion told Indian officials “they have a setup to help the security agencies in tracking the messages in which security agencies are interested.”

A Research In Motion in India spokesperson has declined to comment on the talks with India and India’s Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Sachin Pilot, has said that there are promising signs that RIM is willing to cooperate, however there isn’t a deal “until I have something in writing.”
