It looks like Acer is getting in on some Android 2.2 smartphone action and may just be ready to launch a new Acer smartphone in the form of the Acer Liquid Metal handset, a smartphone with an aluminium casing.

According to an article over on Engadget by Donald Melanson, and by way of Habrahabr, the Acer Liquid Metal will sport the Android 2.2 operating system beneath its Acer skin and feature a 3.6 inch capacitive touch screen.

Other known specs of the Acer Liquid metal are an unspecified megapixel camera with flash, a Qualcomm 800 MHz MSM7230-1 processor and Bluetooth 3.0, other than that not much else is available at this time.

Just like most other details on the device, pricing and availability are also not yet known, however word has it that the Acer Liquid Metal should become available in black and silver.
