Droid X Android 2.2 Unofficial ROM Available
Still waiting patiently for Motorola to get their finger out and deliver the official Android 2.2 Froyo update to your Motorola Droid X? Motorola promised Android 2.2 would come to the Droid X by the time summer was out but appears to have failed on that promise.
However according to an article over on Softpedia by Ionut Arghire, a new unofficial Android 2.2 Froyo ROM has emerged over on My Droid World forums, and is the Droid X 2.3.13- The Froyo Update according to the poster.
Apparently the instillation requires the Droid X be rooted but that shouldn’t be too much of an issue as not long after the Droid X made it into the public arena a one-click rooting tool surfaced on the net.
So if your patience has grown thin with Motorola and you wish to go the unofficial ROM route, the full instructions for installing 2.3.13 which includes Froyo via root access can be gained by hitting up the forums, and if you do go this route, feel free to let us know how you get on by dropping us a comment.
Although remember that Motorola has warned that if any Droid X user installs an unofficial ROM they may not be able to upgrade to the official version when it eventually hits.
