Looks like old Sammy has updated their Xcover range of rugged handsets by unveiling their new Samsung Xcover 271 (B2710) device, which reportedly is a tougher handset than its predecessor the Samsung Xcover E2370.
According to an article over on Intomobile by Dusan Belic and by way of the Samsung Hub, the Samsung Xcover 271 is the first Samsung device to carry an IP67 rating for being water, dust and shock resistant and can apparently be submerges in water for up to a metre for up to half and hour.
Spec wise the Samsung Xcover 217 sports a 2 inc display, 3G connectivity, FM radio, music player, GPS with digital compass, pre-installed Google Maps, video calling, pedometer, 30MB storage and microSD expansion. The Samsung Xcover 271 apparently has a battery that can deliver up to 7 hours of 3G talk time or video talk mode, or up to 19 hours of 2G talk time.
As for availability and pricing on the Samsung Xcover 271, apparently the device will hit Sweden in October initially just as the Samsung E2370 did and the device will be offered for roughly 1700 kronor which is roughly $241.
