For all you Star Wars fans who have been waiting to snatch the Star Wars special edition Droid 2 smartphone, the Droid 2 R2-D2 handset the word is that dummy units of the special edition Star Wars Motorola Droid 2 are hitting Verizon Wireless stores.

And to prove it the guys over at the Boy Genius Report have managed to get their hands on a picture of the Droid 2 R2-D2 handset languishing in a Big Red store in all its glory.

It doesn’t really surprise that the dummy units are beginning to land at the stores as the Motorola Droid 2 R2-D2 special edition is due to see release as of the 30th of this month.

So is there any of our readers who have held off picking up a Droid handset so they can grab the special edition Droid 2 R2-D2 when it lands, might be a good time to pay a visit to your local Verizon store to see if the dummies have arrived and have some hands on time with it.
