If you are an owner of the Samsung Beam Android smartphone and have been hoping to be updated to the latest Android operating system, namely Android 2.2 Froyo, be prepared for some disappointing news.
According to an article over on Intomobile by Blake Stimac and by way of Phandroid, the pico projector packing Samsung Beam handset will not gain the Android 2.2 Froyo update even though the device was only released back in July.
So why won’t the Samsung Beam gain Android 2.2 Froyo? Well apparently because there aren’t enough Samsung Beam owners to warrant the Android update. Apparently Samsung has said that the Samsung Beam “customer base is too small to justify for the allocation of dedicated resources at HQ”.
So Samsung Beam owners it appears you have lost right out in the Android 2.2 Froyo update stakes unless some developer can come up with an unofficial Froyo update, other than that maybe it’s time to think about switching to a Samsung Galaxy S version.
