The Skype for Android application has now been released for all Android 2.1 OS and above smartphones Skype has announced and with this latest release of Skype, the majority of smartphone users will now be able to benefit from using Skype over WiFi of GPRS/EDGE/3G.
Skype for Android enables the user to make free Skype to Skype calls to other Skype users anywhere across the globe via Skype’s SILK codec which delivers CD-like audio quality, and also make low rate Skype calls to mobile phones and landlines.
With Skype for Android the user will see when Skype contacts are available to call, chat or are online, they can synchronise contacts between Skype and the native address book, easily import names and numbers to Skype from the native address book and much more.
