If you are on the lookout for a low end smartphone from the Motorola camp, then the Motorola Citrus handset might be what you are looking for. Motorola has now announced the Android Motorola Citrus which is destined for the Verizon Wireless network.
According to Kelly Hodgkins of Intomobile and by way of Motorola, the Motorola Citrus was formally known as the Motorola Ciena and is an entry level device that has specs which are pretty low with a 3 inch QVGA touch screen. 3 megapixel camera and CDMA 1 X /EV-DO Rev. 0 connectivity.
The Motorola Citrus also features aGPS, Bluetooth, Android 2.1 operating system with MotoBlur, 100MB storage and a 2GB microSD card which is expandable up to 32GB, and loses Google Search in favour of the Bing Search engine.
Apparently the Motorola Citrus does have a couple of features that make the device easier to use such as BACKTRACK trackpad which was first seen on the Motorola Blackflip handset, which is a touchpad on the rear of the device that allows a user to navigate without covering the display with their fingers.
Motorola or Verizon hasn’t let on when the Motorola Citrus will see launch or what price the device may command, but the word is the launch has been targeted for Q4 of 2010.
