LimeRa1n Not Working? Here’s Why
iPhone hacker Geohot stepped back into the jailbreak limelight the other day by releasing his latest iPhone jailbreak solution, LimeRa1n; however there may be a couple of things you’ve missed that may cause LimeRa1n to not work.
According to an article over on iPhone Download Blog by Sebastien, one of the reasons LimeRa1n may not work is because the jailbreak is only for Windows at the moment, so if you are using a Mac then LimeRa1n won’t work.
Another reason is that LimeRa1n also requires the latest version of iTunes, so iTunes 10, and if you don’t have this then you need to download it for LimeRa1n to work. You also need to run LimeRa1n as an administrator on your PC and to do so simply click on the LimeRa1n icon and choose “run as administrator.”
Another issue you may face is once you have run LimeRa1n with no issues the LimeRa1n icon doesn’t show on your iPhone, so reboot, and if that doesn’t work then you may need to attempt a hard reset, to do this hold Home and Power together until the device closes down.
Apparently there are some users of LimeRa1n who are reporting that their iPhone gets stuck on the Apple Logo when using LimeRa1n, so if that happens you can follow the guys “get out of reboot loop” article by hitting up here.

Hi used limera1n on release date works fine no problems and works fine with 9.2 itunes my iphone is 16gb white 3gs firmeware 05.14.02 installed straight away its safe everyone. Also greenpo1son anotherj ailbreak will be released next day or 2 but only works for iphone 4 not 3 gs so dnt install on 3gs as u could brick your 3gs limera1n is the one AND totally100% safe currently for windows users only
I have it running on iPhone 4 ver 4.1, no dramas at all installing it. Well done once again to Geohot on the exploit and delivered in style!
LIMERAIN, partly works. Jailbreak is OK. But, not the network unlock performed by repo666/Cydia. the Netwok keeps searchinga nd finds no network. Spent almost 4 times but there aint Nework Registration what so ever. Checked with 2 SIMs are 2 Network Providers. Are we missing part of the fun?

If your limera1n icon isn't showing up still, after the exploit has installed and you've restarted your phone, then go to settings -> general -> reset -> erase ALL content and settings. after this completes, the limera1n icon appears. After installing cydia, do a hard reset for it the show up.

jes you are a lifesaver… Two things to point out in your post, and I am not sure which one did the trick, but I did the master reset per your instructions, then I went to http://www.limera1n.com today and got a NEW download of the exploit, and it worked. Either way thanks so much, I swear to god I tried this yesterday at least a dozen times, I even reset my device back to base IOS twice, lots of work…but I am there!!

OMG!! It uses windows so it must not work!!! This is the most biased, poorly written, and poorly argued article I have ever read. It works fine, it doesn't require itunes 10, and if you have to reboot your device, WTF cares? Try actually using the jailbreak before you start referencing the experiences of people you have found on the internet.

Limera1n worked perfectly for my ipod touch 4g. didn't need to run as admin or have the newest iTunes.
i followed all the instructions but when i use limera1n the green limera1n drop never shows up and the app never shows up so i cant install cydia i have tried rebooting hard rebooting and restoring nothing works i have tried this on two 3g ipod touches on ios 4.1. please help!

Tried 10 times the day of release and it didn't work. I tried 3 times the next morning and it worked and I have seen no issues. Good going Geohot. Don't be mad Dev Team you should have gave it to us when we wanted it instead of making us wait. All I can say is he got you and he gave us what you had been holding on to for months.

I'm using a previously broken 32GB 3GS. I upgraded to software 4.1 in order to JB with limera1n.

downloaded limera1n, the process went as expected…i see the big lime ra1n drop on the screen, but the ap itself is just a plain white ap button, not the ra1n drop. I select the ap, something opens for 1 second and then it crashes on me…
Anyone else experiencing this? Is there something I can do here? Thanks

I have an iphone 3gs 16gb, and after going though all the steps, i succeed in jailbreak and unlock. however, my active AT&T sim is not finding any service, while it does have service on my other iphone 3gs which is not jailbroken.
Did you get your phone unlocked? I could not get my 3gs 16GB with 4.10 unlocked, no matter what I tried. It jailbreaks just fine, but no unlocking 🙁
yes. I got it unlocked. I installed repo666 everything went smooth. but no service on the phone.
So I restored the phone back with Itunes, and it now has service with AT&T.
but not jailbroken any more.

omg i have done all troubleshooting to try and fix im running on itunes 10 and i have 4.0.2 firmware i tryed running as administrator but it still wont come up with the logo GWRRRRRRR
iPhone 4 user here, running iOS 4.1. So far so good – installed fine and cydia did as well. Trying to restore my apps with AptBackup now and will be back if I have any updates!
NOTHING WORKS I have tried different suggestions from all over the net I have followed numerous videos I even tried erasing everything as someone stated above I tried different versions of limera1n release I tried restoring my ipad I tried putting it into dfu mode myself. this things simply is unreliable and unstable I read FAR more complaints about this program then I do on compliments. this has got to be the worst made Ipad hack I have seen out YET. I do notice a lot of people say this works for all gens but then how come I am seeing almost entirely iphone users as being the only ones able to get it working? this is a luck of the draw software and that's dumb.

I have itouch 3g on ios 4.1 and the limera1n told me the jailbreak was successful but there was no green droplet on my screen and no green droplet icon in my apps.
same here, i never got it to work that or green poison. Both said they "successfully" jailbroke but no icons, no nothing. Fail.

Hi just thought i'd try and help as i was just experiencing this problem wih the no green logo on boot and and no app appearing i got round this by doing the following:
Reset ipod settings/general/reset/reset all
plug ipod in
open itunes (v10.1) (dont know if this is necessary?)
right click limera1n run as administrator (Win7)
this time on boot i got green droplet logo on boot
and my ipod was off when it had finished
switched it on and limera1n appeared
however now im stuck with no network
ive reset network settings a few times seen my wifi once but didnt connect in time before it dissapeared now on every reboot no wifi networks??
any ideas?

I also had issues when installing LimeRa1n that it's icon did not show up on my Ipad. I simply did a search (menu to the left of home) and it found it immediately… icon then showed up and allowed installation of Cydia.
So any of you having that problem might also try this method.
iv run limera1n on my ipod 2g 4.1 15 times on every beta rebooted and all no matter what all it seems to make it do is go into dfu and pop back out no lime drop icon no drop relpacing the apple nothing besides normal dfu im about to give up

I installed limerain from an acer PC laptop to my iphone4 without a problem. installed cydia, then bricked my phone after trying to install some winterboard theme. I then restored the phone back from a backup i did right before the jailbreak. I didnt have access to the same acer laptop to do the limerain jailbreak but i used parallels on my macbook pro running windows xp. I can run the limerain jailbreaker again, but i dont see the limerain icon anywhere on the fine despite it saying it was done. What should I do?

If you guys dont get the limedrop on your device after dfu-mode, do as i did and have itunes OPEN when you hit "make it Ra1n" and rest of the jailbreak. i have itunes 10 and iphone 4, ios 4.1 if you guys wonder

iPhone 3GS, I was running 3.1.3 under Spirit (working great)
Update to 4.1 and installed Limera1n a few days ago.
NO Problem with updating process using Limera1n – everything went smooth
except for my BlueTooth Device (iCom – which is connected to my Hearing Aids)
is now dead (battery Drain) after 3 hours and my iPhone battery is also dying faster than normal (my iphone is warm to the touch)
I reset and paired up my blue tooth . it pairs fast and works, but my battery is Dying FAST
Tested without my Blue Tooth device and turned off Bluetooth on phone, and iPhone battery showns normal Battery Drain. and is not warm to the touch.
Any Advise and is it Limera1n causing my problem?
I may need to reload 4.1 from Itunes and remove limera1n. because I need my Blue tooth device to work for me

Hi, can someone tell me why I am unable to JB my Iphone 3G, 5.14 with limera1n. In DFU it stays in "wait" forever. I am on Mac but I have parallels with Windows7 so it shouldn't be a problem? Any suggestions? Oh, I did notice most of directions talks about 3GS phones does it mean no JB for 3G?

Did any of you read the article? Try making sure that iTunes is up to date, and run the program as an administrator. If that doesnt work, I dont know what to tell you.Â

I tried to restore my iphone to original ios 4.1 with itunes it gives error “The iphone cannot be restored an Unknown Error 3194 has occoured†, I used tinnyumbrella to change the set host to cydia option it gave same error.
Even tried to restore by DFU mode but it gave the same error “ The iphone cannot be restored an Unknown Error 3194 has occouredâ€.

Follow these steps:
1. Right click on the icon on your p and click allow
2. You need the latest iTunes installed on your pc
Then it should work fine

i have an ipod touch 4g and i used limera1n to jailbreak it and it worked. there was an incedent in which i ended up removing it by accident and now i can not get the icons to show up for cydia limera1n or installous.what do i do to get them back…please help me =(
im totally stumped i have an ipod touch 4g and have used limera1n like 7 times but every time its over instead of powering off the apple logo comes up (not the limera1n one) and it powers on and i dont have the limera1n app someone please help!!!!!!!!Â

when its in dfu mode it doesnt work it just gets stuck there and i have to reset my ipod and it just shows the apple logo and not the limera1n logo ;(

Hello,, I have the new itunes and i have downloaded limera1n and I run it as an administrator. It runs fine and then it is supposed to show the raindrop and tell you it is jailbroken. In my case it says it is jailbroken without showing the raindrop and when I turn it back on it is not jailbroken. What am i doing wrong?
