Samsung Galaxy S Android Froyo Update Source Code Released

If you are an Android developer and wish to play around with Android 2.2, as of yesterday Samsung released the Android 2.2 Froyo source code for JPM Galaxy S i9000 handsets, now it may now mean a great deal at the moment but could lead to Froyo ROMs appearing in the not too distant future.

According to an article over on Android Police by Brian O’Toole, and by way of XDA-developers, the release of the Android 2.2 source code should be of benefit to developers and we could see Froyo Roms for such devices as the Samsung Vibrant, Samsung Epic, Samsung Fascinate and Samsung Captivate soon.

Apparently there are some users that have already installed the update and have reported a bit of sluggishness without the use of “lag fix,” with leaves room for improvement.

If you are not happy with flashing your Galaxy S device then wait for the official update to be released, but if you are okay with that type of thing you can grab the source code from the Samsung Open Source Release Center.
