With the amount of Android based smartphones out there in the mobile arena it’s not surprising that Android is becoming more dominant in the US over Apple’s iOS even though Apple’s iPhone remains the dominant smartphone as reported (here)
However what about which Android operating system is dominating the Android space? Well according to an article over on Android Central by Phil Nickinson, the Android developer site has revealed the figures which place Android 2.2 Froyo at 40.8% and Android 2.1 Éclair at 36.2% of all Android devices.
So basically Android 2.2 Froyo is still dominating the OS rollout but still has a fairly long way to go before getting onto all Froyo compatible handsets, especially my Samsung Galaxy S which I’m still waiting for Samsung to push out the update.
According to their own figures, Android Central visitors who hit up their site during October via an Android device was 58.67 toting 2.2 Froyo and 27.51 were using Android 2.1 Éclair. But if Android 3.0 rolls out soon then naturally those figures will change once again.
