So if you are a smartphone manufacturer who is going to jump into the tablet game one of your biggest competitors is of course going to be Apple and their Apple iPad, so how do you go about grabbing potential customers to your new tablet device, you offer it for less than rivals.
And according to an article over on Mobile Syrup by Ian Hardy by way of Bloomberg, that this could be what Research In Motion has in mind with their BlackBerry PlayBook tablet as word is the device will become available for under $500.
Apparently the BlackBerry Playbook will see release in North America during Q1 of next year and Jim Balsillie, Research In Motion’s co-CEO has said, “The product will be very competitively priced.”
In Canada the Apple iPad cost starts at $549 while the Samsung Galaxy Tab is expected to cost $649, and as the quoted BlackBerry PlayBook price is probably US dollars, in Canada it would work out at the same price as the iPad at $549 but may come out less.
