The latest CyanogenMod is now available for the HTC Desire Z and T-Mobile G2 smartphone and owners of those devices can now upgradte to CyanogenMod 6.1 release candidate 1 which drives the handset in line with all the other handsets supported by CyanogenMod.
According to an article over on Android Police by Artem Russakovskii and by way of CyanogenMod, there isn’t a great deal of change when it comes to installation, and is apparently stable for use, although at this point it has to be said if you choose to install you do so at your own risk.
Sop here’s how it’s done…Root your handset and install Clockwork Recovery through ROM Manager; next do a Nandroid backup; wipe your device, install the ROM and optionally install the Google Addon. If you are upgrading from the earlier CM6, do a Nandroid backup, and install the ROM, your Google apps will auto-backup.
Apparently there are a few known issues such as the Bluetooth Voice Dialler will crash, WiFi calling stutters a tad, and QuickKeys haven’t been implemented as yet.
