Steve Wozniak apparently saying that Android phones have more features and would eventually win the smartphone wars naturally caused somewhat of a commotion in the mobile space, but apparently the co-founder of Apple was misquoted.
In an interview that was apparently up for journalist interpretation, Steve Wozniak rebuffed the quote in a comment over on Engadget, and in response they gave Steve a call to clarify the situation.
Wozniak says he did give a lengthy interview to the newspaper on voice commands on iOS and Android and stated that Android enables the user to say “Navigate to Joe’s Diner,” but that Apple would catch up via their purchases of Poly9 and Siri.
Wozniak denies saying Android was better than iOS, and says “Almost every app I have is better on the iPhone.” However apparently Steve did slightly predict that Android will become more popular, “based on what I’ve read,” and suggested that he expects Android “to be a lot like Windows… I’m not trying to put Android down, but I’m not suggesting it’s better than iOS by any stretch of the imagination. But it can get greater marketshare and still be crappy.”
So there you have it, Wozniak refutes that Android is better than iOS, but is he then saying Android is crappy? What do our readers think on the Android and iOS debate? You can hear the call in the man’s own words by hitting up Engadget’s website.
