My, my how quickly things turn round in the mobile space. Yesterday we posted an article that European carriers weren’t too happy with Apple’s plans to introduce an integrated SIM in future iPhone handsets and were threatening to pull subsidy, you can check that article (here).
Now according to an article over on Gizmodo by Jack Loftus, The Telegraph is reporting that Apple has bowed down to those carrier threats and has thus abandoned their plans on an integrated iPhone SIM.
Apparently a senior source at one mobile operator has said…”Apple has long been trying to build closer and closer relationships and cut out the operators. But this time they have been sent back to the drawing board with their tails between their legs.”
So it seems there will be no integrated SIM cards in future iPhone handsets; however apparently when it comes to future of the Apple iPad, it is expected the next generation iPad will sport an integrated SIM along with the right hand lock button being replaced with a “mute” button.
So what do our readers think, should Apple have bowed down to carrier pressure over an integrated SIM in future iPhones or should they have stuck to their plans?
