Remember that Sony PlayStation phone that was pictured a while back? Well as it stands Sony is keeping tight lipped over the PlayStation phone and it also appears that partner in crime Sony Ericsson is taking the same stance.
However, according to an article over on Engadget by Sean Hollister and by way of Eurodroid, according to an article over on the Wall Street Journal, Bert Nordberg, the CEO of Sony Ericsson has intimated that there could be a reveal during Mobile World Congress 2011 in February.
Nordberg, without actually committing himself to revealing the product would be the Sony PlayStation phone, said, “There’s a lot of smoke, and I tell you there must be a fire somewhere.”
Now obviously Nordberg could well be speaking about another Sony Ericsson product being revealed as MWC 2011, but Nordberg didn’t exactly veer away from the subject of video games and mentioned, “I haven’t dug into that history, but the future might be brighter.”
So although not confirmed in any way, there is a possibility that the Sony PlayStation phone could be unveiled at MWC 2011, but what do our readers think? Does the mobile space really need a PlayStation phone? Or do today’s smartphones cope well with gaming enough to not warrant a gaming specific phone?
