As you know, the festive season is the season for giving, and over in the great white of Canada, it looks like Bell and Samsung have taken on the role as Santa to 2000 Canadian athletes by handing out a little combined prezzie.
According to an article over on Mobile Syrup by Kate O’Brien, and by way of CNW, as part of the “Bell Athletes Connect program,” Samsung will be playing Santa by delivering a mobile phone to 2,000 Olympic, Paralympic and senior World Championship athletes via AthletesCAN.
Furthermore, Bell will also be taking on the role of Santa by picking up the athletes monthly charges. Just what mobile device will be offered by Samsung is yet to be clarified though, but the word plan wise if that it will involve “significant airtime, an extensive data plan, North American roaming, and long distance.”
The President and CEO of Bell Canada and BCE, George Cope, has said, “Athletes from across Canada have shared with us how important mobile connectivity is to them, their coaches, and their families and friends… Bell is proud to provide Canada’s premier athletes with new mobile devices, voice and data services that will ensure they stay closely connected with all those most important to them.”
Nice to see a carrier and smartphone manufacturer playing Santa at this time of year, now if only Samsung and Bell dish out something like the Samsung Galaxy S to the athletes then all will be good.
