Apparently Virgin Media is looking to extend its presence in the mobile carrier and broadband market as apparently could partner with Hutchinson Whampoa owned 3 UK or even buy it.
According to an article over on ITProportal by Desire Athow, and by way of V3, Ovum a technology and telecoms analyst company believes that 3 UK might be able to provide Virgin Media with the network to extend their Virgin services.
Principla analayst at Ovum, Steven Hartley has said “By partnering with Three, the opportunity to cross sell is present as Virgin has a reputation as a content provider and a lot of multimedia that it wants to push out.”
Virgin has apparently confirmed they are thinking about rolling out a nationwide WiFi network in a bid to challenge BT Openzone
Hartley also believes that even a short term partnership with 3UK would make sense as Virgin’s options are somewhat limited, and that any acquisition would be expensive and there is no guarantee that Hutchinson would sell 3UK.
