You are probably aware that the word is the Windows Phone 7 packing HTC HD7 smartphone is apparently experiencing the same death grip antenna issue which was, or is still seen with Apple’s iPhone 4, so what do HTC have to say?
Well according to an article over on Intomobile by Kelly Hodgkins and by way of Computer Weekly, HTC has now made an official reply to the HTC HD7 death grip accusations and basically says all smartphones can have antenna problems when covered by the palm.
Here’s what HTC said in their statement… “Quality in industrial design is of key importance to HTC. To ensure the best possible signal strength, antennas are placed in the area least likely to be covered by a person’s face or hands while the phone is in use.”
“However, it is inevitable that a phone’s signal strength will weaken a little when covered in its entirety by a user’s palm or fingers. We test all of our phones extensively and are confident that under normal circumstances reception strength and performance will be more than sufficient for the operation of the phone when network coverage is also adequate.”
We do agree to a certain extent with what HTC has said, but to be honest when checking the video and the signal loss on the HTC HD7 I can’t see that the user is holding the device wrong, surely the best way to solve antenna issues is to place the antenna at the bottom or top of a device where the hand doesn’t usually touch, although there may be some technical reason this can’t be done, but it seems somewhat logical to me.
