Although Samsung did say that the Android 2.2 Froyo update would be hitting Canadian carriers last month obviously Samsung failed to get the update to Canadian owners of the Samsung Galaxy S smartphone.
However, there is some light on the horizon as according to an article over on Engadget Mobile by Chris Ziegler and by way of Samsung Mobile Canada’s Facebook page, Rogers Samsung Captivate along with Bells Samsung Vibrant should gain Android 2.2 Froyo by the middle of this month.
In the case of the Telus Samsung Fascinate, unfortunately Telus owners will be waiting longer as apparently the expected roll out date for Telus is “early 2011,” which could well mean they still have a few months to wait for Android 2.2.
Still our Canadian buddies are alone in still not managing to get the Froyo update to their device as over here in the UK Froyo has been available for some time but because Samsung is a right pain and uses Samsung Kies for grabbing the update I still haven’t managed to get it as Kies doesn’t recognise my Samsung Galaxy S i9000, anyone else still waiting?
