Operating systems blur the lines between smartphone and table with many tablets sporting what originally were smartphone operating systems such as Apple and its iOS now being on both the iPhone and Apple iPad, and of course Android being on a multitude of smartphone and now tablets as well.
Of course the latest operating system from the Android camp is Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which apparently is due to be announced today the 6th of December at the Dive Into Mobile conference, but according to an article over on Droid-life by Kellex, Android 2.3 Gingerbread may have already been confirmed by Notion Ink.
Apparently in his “Weekend Special” post, Norton Ink CEO Rohan Shayran made reference to that particular day being “special for Android” and also stated that their Eden UI “works well with 2.3,” here’s what was posted…
“6th December is another big day for Android and you will find out how fast Notion Ink can work. (Eden is extremely compatible with 2.3)”
Thus it would appear that Notion Ink has already outed the release date for Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but we are fairly sure we’d still like the official word on Android 2.3 Gingerbread from the bakers themselves later today.
