As you know, Consumer Reports push out reports on the state of the US carrier networks along with other tech reports such as the one over the iPhone 4 and its antenna issues, one which they have never retracted and still don’t recommend buying the iPhone 4.
Well according to an article over on Intomobile by Marc Flores, and by way of the Houston Chronicle, the latest report from Consumer Reports has found that iPhone carrier AT&T is the worst carrier in the United States coming in last position behind the likes of US Cellular, Verizon Wireless, Sprint and T-Mobile.
Furthermore not only did AT&T get the nationwide last position but was way below other carriers in individual cities such as in Houston, Verizon gained a score of 77 while Sprint gained a score of 72 while AT&T managed to get a score of 61. In Detroit, Verizon got a score of 75 with T-Mobile getting 74 but AT&T came in with just 55.
Overall it was US Cellular that grabbed the top slot in the survey although availability and service is limited in certain regions and markets, but out of the big boys in the smartphone arena Verizon Wireless came out tops.
AT&T did issue a response to Consumer Reports by stating…
“We take this seriously and we continually look for new ways to improve the customer experience. The fact is wireless customers have choices and a record number of them chose AT&T in the third quarter, significantly more than our competitors. Hard data from independent drive tests confirms AT&T has the nation’s fastest mobile broadband network with our nearest competitor 20 percent slower on average nationwide and our largest competitor 60 percent slower on average nationwide. And, our dropped call rate is within 1/10 of a percent – the equivalent of just one call in a thousand – of the industry leader.”
Is it really any wonder why so many people want Verizon to carry the iPhone when time after time AT&T falls at the bottom of the line when it comes to reports such as this one?
