With the rumour that there is a Sony Ericsson PlayStation phone on the horizon it was only a matter of time before a smartphone mobile PlayStation app for other devices made its way into the mobile space, and that time is apparently now.
According to an article over on the Boy Genius Report by Zach Epstein, and by way of the PlayStation Blog, Sony has announced the official PlayStation application for iOS and Android devices will arrive “very soon,” and the new app will become available to download to most Android smartphones that run Android 1.6 and above and the iPhone and iPod Touch running iOS 4 and up.
The Sony PlayStation app is said to feature such stuff as the ability to keep up to date with friend’s games and online status and check out your PlayStation network trophies. View announcements of the European PlayStation Blog, shave new and favourite products with social networking buddies on Twitter and Facebook or by email, and locate the latest news, hardware and games for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PSP.
We’re not too sure when that “very soon” release may be but apparently the PlayStation app will be free and will hit the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, France, the Netherlands and Italy first and followed by other markets.
So there you have it, are all you iPhone and Android gaming fans now a little bit excited with a PlayStation app becoming available in the not too distant future?
