Yesterday the word was that yellow tag company Best Buy has been stopped from offering the Motorola Droid 2 Global and Motorola Droid Pro smartphones and was removing them from their shelves, and the reason was Verizon pulled the plug because Best Buy was selling them dirt cheap.
However apparently the Big Red hasn’t stopped best Buy from offering the handsets as according to an article over on the Boy Genius Report by Andrew Munchbach, they received an email from a spokesperson for Verizon which apparently said that Verizon “has not mandated or otherwise requested Best Buy to remove the devices from its shelves.”
Apparently the spokesperson also confirmed that there isn’t any recall of the Motorola Droid 2 Global or Motorola Droid Pro for hardware or software reasons which could explain Best Buy removing the handsets.
Verizon did however promote the devices by their Twitter account shortly after with… “DROID 2 Glob and DROID Pro are great phones. Stop by your Verizon Wireless store and try ‘em out! #droid.”
Thus far Best Buy hasn’t replied to a request by the BGR to comment on what is going on. So the big unanswered question is, if the handsets haven’t been pulled due to a price dispute between Best Buy and Verizon then why has Best Buy pulled the Droid 2 Global and Droid Pro? Any of our readers have any ideas?
