Unofficial Droid 2 Update 3.0.0 Available for Download

Apparently an unofficial leaked update for the Motorola Droid 2 smartphone has found its way onto the internet and is Blur version 3.0.0
and apparently delivers profiles only seen on the Droid 2 Global and Droid Pro handsets thus far.

According to an article over on Droid-life by Kellex by way of My Droid World, this update is a “pretty big deal,” and is a nice bump for the Droid 2 although it will remain stuck as Android 2.2 Froyo and not bump up to Android 2.2.1 Froyo.

To grab the update your Droid 2 has to be rooted, you will need to bootstrap your recovery with Droid 2 Bootstrapper, download the file onto your SD card, Bootstrap your recovery and reboot into it, when booted into Clockwork Recovery go to “backup and restore,” pick “backup” after which choose “install zip from SD card,” then “Choose zip from SD card,” and locate D2_300.zip, select and punch “yes”, and the job is done.

There’s a warning along with this though which is that Verizon may not push this update to all Droid 2 handsets and getting back from updating can be complicated so you download and install at your own risk.

However apparently if you run into any problems with 3.0.0 the 2.3.20 SBF file will work if 3.0.0 doesn’t end up being an official update. So if you want to go ahead and download this update you can do so by hitting up (here) Of course if you do and experience any issues feel free to shout out in our comments area below.
