Yesterday there was a report that Research In Motion may delay the launch of the BlackBerry PlayBook due apparently to issues with battery life, we covered that story which you can read by hitting up (here). However apparently it was all bunkum.
According to an article over on Ubergizmo, and by way of Erictric, Research In Motion has released an official statement on the matter and refuse those reports that the BlackBerry PlayBook has battery problems and may be delayed.
RIM states that any battery life issues were due to using non-optimised pre-beta devices which were constructed without power management. Here’s what the official statement says…
“Any testing or observation of battery life to date by anyone outside of RIM would have been performed using pre-beta units that were built without power management implemented,” the company said. “RIM is on track with its schedule to optimize the BlackBerry PlayBook’s battery life and looks forward to providing customers with a professional grade tablet that offers superior performance with comparable battery life.”
So there you go, the BlackBerry PlayBook is still on schedule and will have no poor battery problems once the device see release whenever that may be.
