The HTC HD2 smartphone, a Windows device that can’t be updated to Windows Phone 7 and is basically stuck on the old Windows Mobile platform, and a handset my daughter owns and says is the worst smartphone she has ever had.
However, the HTC HD2 although languishing on Windows Mobile has been given the occasional hack to run other operating systems, the latest being MeeGo 1.1.
We have a video demo of MeeGo 1.1 running on the HTC HD2 handset for your viewing pleasure below which comes our way courtesy of Paul Miller, over at Engadget and by way of High Caffeine Content which lasts almost a minute and a half.
Miller says the OS runs just as well on the HTC HD2 as any other MeeGo device and looks “pretty snazzy.” The port of MeeGo 1.1 to the HTC HD2 was accomplished by following the instructions on MeeGo’s MSMQSD Wiki page which was also used to port MeeGo to the Google Nexus One.
So without further ado, skip on down and mash that play button to check out the video footage of MeeGo playing nice on the HTC HD2, and feel free to let us know what you think by posting a comment below…enjoy.
