It may be a little late to the party, but as they say better late than never, and the same can now be said for Garmin, and the company has now released their StreetPilot GPS application for the iPhone, but whether Garmin’s new iPhone app can pull users from the likes of TomTom and Navigon is another matter.
According to an article over on iPhone Download Blog, the Garmin StreetPilot iPhone app has been available to download from iTunes since the 23rd of December, but as CES 2011 was just around the corner, Garmin held off making the announcement.
Feature wise the Garmin StreetPilot app for iPhone offers always up to date maps of Canada and the US, voice turn-by-turn navigation including street names, real time traffic updates, major road speed limits, integrated local search, integrated iPod music controls, iOS 4 multitasking whilst calling, weather conditions current and forecast, portrait and landscape modes, and lane assist with junction view.
Garmin StreetPilot for the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and Apple iPad is available to download to your preferred Apple device from iTunes at a cost of $39.99.
