Samsung Galaxy S Gingerbread Update Release Date
Those of you out there that have been waiting for the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for your Samsung Galaxy S smartphone, well you could receive the software update mid-April, no exact date known.
The latest information coming to us regarding the Gingerbread update for the Samsung Galaxy S is from the Finnish site of Samsung, where it has been officially announced that around the middle of April their local owner’s of the device will receive the Gingerbread fix.
Now this information from Samsung’s Finnish site comes to us via Engadget and coincides with Three UK’s promise to their users of the Android smartphone that the OS version will be arriving “in a couple of weeks.”
We reported on the update coming to some Samsung Galaxy S handsets in March, in an article dated 28 February 2011 — see a full story here.
So when will the UK owners receive the update, well earlier today we did an article relating to an Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update Schedule, which indicates mid-April for the update. However, the exact date is not stated, so how reliable this information is, we will just have to wait and see — but what ever you do, please don’t hold your breath.

" please don’t hold your breath " so true since I have contacted Samsung customer support about the update on the 30th of March and their reply was:
Good day valued customer!
Thanks for asking updates.
We had acquired an information from concerned department that they are
still testing the Gingerbread for Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab and they are
expecting it to be ready by next week.
We hope that there will be no glitches found so that it will be released
officially.
Thank you.

So, I suppose they found "glitches" (plural) :))
Nice – Samsung does it like always… uodate delayed… again and again
I dont know why anyone would complain two software updates better than 1 /actually it will be three inc 2.2.1 when gingerbred comes out i think 2.2.1 is great Tho i expect to see 3.0 at least before the galaxy s is done with & excpect to see honeycomb too so customers will want to carry on buying the new samsung android mobiles
