Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update for Motorola Droid X
Latest news coming in is that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update is being dished out to Verizon Wireless’ Motorola Droid X, with some owners of the device already receiving the update.
The updates for Google’s Android seem to be in abundance, but getting the device manufactures to add these updates to their smartphones, well that is another thing. However, we have noticed a change recently with some of the manufacturers, as many of the latest smartphones on the market are being updated with Google’s Android ‘Froyo’ 2.2 at the least.
At present, there are only a few different smartphones that have the Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but this appears to be changing, as a number of devices are due to receive this update. As we previously adviced the Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 update is due at the end of June for two HTC devices Thunderbolt and EVO and also did an article on a ‘schedule‘ revealing the dates of certain devices receiving the new update.
Information coming in from Android Community, via Mobilewhack is that Droid X users have begun receiving the 2.3 Gingerbread update, if you have this device but have not yet received the update, just be patient as it is on its way.
However, bad news for those that have rooted their device as according to the information received, you will not be receiving this official Android 2.3 Gingerbread update.
Have you had your device updated with the Android 2.3 Gingerbread, if so let us know what you think of it?
