Twitter Buys TweetDeck: UberMedia Outbidded
Some time ago the word was UberMedia was acquiring TweetDeck and that said acquisition deal was virtually finalised with UberMedia offering somewhere between $25 million and $30 million for the client. However latest reports have it that UberMedia has been gazumped by Twitter.
According to an article over on Droid-life, the guys at Tech Crunch have heard via a source with “knowledge of the deal,” that Twitter has now acquired TweetDeck by outbidding UberMedia to the tunes of between $40 million and $50 million.
Apparently Twitter wasn’t about to let UberMedia have so much market share in the tweet client space as UberMedia has already acquired several clients including EchoFon and UberTwitter and to have let them have TweetDeck would have given them too much leverage over Twitter.
Thus Twitter took the initiative and delved into their deep pockets and stumped up the cash and Twitter stock package to grab TweetDeck from UberMedia’s clutches.
