Now even if you’re not an iOS fan, most know that at some point this year Apple will push out their next generation iPhone, now whether it will be called the iPhone 4S or iPhone 5, we’ll find out when the time comes, but the word is Apple is gearing up for its arrival by slowing production of the iPhone 4.
According to the guys over at 9to5 Mac, Chinese rag, DigiTimes is reporting that Apple has lowered production of the GSM and CDMA iPhone 4 ahead of the “September launch” of the next generation iOS smartphone.
Here’s what DigiTimes actually says… “Apple has lowered its expected shipment volume of iPhone 4 for the second quarter of 2011 from 20 million units, to 17.5-18 million units consisting of 16 million units of the 3G version and 1.5-2 million units of the CDMA version.”
The article also says that “Production of the iPhone 4S will begin in August and the earliest launch may be in September,” the article also claims that all iPhone 4S units will have 3G and CDMA chips supplied by Qualcomm along with OmniVision Technologies supplying the 8 megapixel camera.
So there you go, it appears Apple is cutting back on previous versions of the iPhone so all you iOS faithful out there can upgrade to the iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 whichever you wish to call it, possibly in September…excited?
