There have been rumours that Apple was putting Near Field Communication into their next iPhone, some reports say they are while other say they are not; however the latest reports has Apple using NFC but not in the way you might think.
According to iPhone Download Blog, by way of the Boy Genius Report, the word is that multiple Apple sources have informed the BGR that Apple is apparently installing NFC payment systems in their retail stores.
According to the article there were multiple “overnights” at Apple retail stores that had employees helping to “assist in installing TBD devices”, and apparently new tables with different wiring have been installed with “cash wraps” built in but are not being used just yet.
Furthermore, one unnamed source has said that they believe “NFC payment processing capabilities are among the enhancements that will be brought about by the new gear.”
Of course the big question here is if true, and Apple is bring NFC payments to their retail stores then surely this could mean that at some point Apple will indeed bring NFC to their iOS smartphone, what do our readers think?
