For the Android faithful with a Droid device that are still languishing on Android 2.2 Froyo you may like to hear that Android 2.3 Gingerbread might be coming your way soon if you are the owner of a Motorola Droid Pro, Motorola Droid X, Motorola Droid 2 Global and the Motorola Droid 2.
According to an article over on Android Central by way of Droid-life, the Motorola Support forums are saying that numerous Droid devices aka those mentioned above will receive the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update.
Apparently the Motorola Droid X will be the first handset to get the update, “by the end of the second quarter,” followed by the Motorola Droid Pro and Droid 2 and Droid 2 Global at some point “before the end of the third quarter.”
Furthermore apparently the word is all the Gingerbread builds for the smartphones are complete, but as per usual when devices will actually get the update will be decided by when Verizon rubber stamps their roll out.
