Now that we have the Apple iPad 2 out to play the next in line for speculation other than the iPhone 5 is of course the Apple iPad 3 and the latest bit of rumour concerning the third iOS tablet is that Apple wants Samsung AMOLED displays for the iPad 3, like that’s going to happen considering the legal spat both Apple and Samsung are currently in.
According to an article over on 9to5 Mac, The Korea Herald claims that an unnamed source states that Apple is actively seeking to get Samsung to construct AMOLED displays for the Apple iPad 3, here’s what the source said…
“Apple wants to tap into Samsung’s AMOLED technology for an upgraded version of the iPad2, considered as many as the iPad3 that is likely to be launched toward the end of this year.”
Of course one does have to consider that even Samsung doesn’t use AMOLED displays on their tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab, keeping AMOLED for such smartphones as the Android Samsung Galaxy S2, so it hardly seems plausible that Samsung would make the displays for an iPad 3.
This combined with the legal fight between the two mobile giants tends one to believe that this source has somehow managed to get it wrong, especially when the source says the Apple iPad 3 will launch later in 2011.
However, in the mobile game one can never really be too sure on what might happen, Apple and Sammy could come to some agreement whereby AMOLED displays will be used on the next iPad, you never know. Would you like to see an iPad sporting an AMOLED display?
