For those using the Android platform and wish to keep up with the day-to-day global news events the British Broadcasting Corporation, the BBC has now released their own app for Android, an app that delivers fast access to the BBC’s top news stories.

According to the guys over at the Boy Genius Report by way of Gizmodo, the BBC News app for Android delivers top news stories along with pictures and video with the option for the user to share content by email or via Facebook.

The BBC News app also features background syncing, pre-cache viewing, breaking news notifications, personalisation of the home screen by adding and removing news categories, full range of categories such as world, UK, sport, entertainment & arts, technology, business, politics and more.

The BBC app for Android also offers live streaming of the BBC news channel for devices running Android 2.2 Froyo and above, and the application is available to download for free from the Android Market.
