Apple Created Android Says Nokia CEO
Well what do you know, there was me thinking that the Google guys actually came up with Android and all along I was under a misconception, as apparently Google didn’t create the Android platform, Apple did, well according to Nokia CEO Stephen Elop when speaking at the Open Mobile Summit.
According to Engadge and a couple of tweets, one from @superglaze and the other from @lifeisbetteron, the Nokia boss was explaining why Nokia is dropping the Meego and Symbian operating systems in favour of Windows Phone 7, and came up with this doozie of a quote…
“Apple created Android, or at least created the conditions necessary for Android to come into being.”
Perhaps this is why Nokia decided to go with Windows Phone 7 over Android, perhaps they feel aligning themselves with Android would be putting them in Apple’s pocket regardless of the fact that iOS and Android are somewhat bitter rivals.
I think maybe Mr. Elop is living in some kind of Nokia/Microsoft, Apple/Android conspiracy fantasy world. It’s all Apple’s fault don’t you agree?

I dont think you quite understand the statement. “created the environment to allow Android to happen” means it was a necessity to have a successful open-source mobile OS to compete with Apples restrictions. Android is most definitely not “in Apples pocket”
