For those who own the HTC EVO Shift 4G smartphone and have held off grabbing the recently leaked Android Gingerbread ROM to patiently await the arrival of the official Android 2.3 Gingerbread to your device, the word is its ready for roll out to the masses.
According to the guys over at Ubergizmo by way of Pocket Now, the guys at Android Police have come across an internal Sprint doc that reveals that owners of the HTC EVO Shift 4G can begin grabbing the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update manually OTA, as of tomorrow the 17th of June.
However if you are so busy that you forget to manually check for the update, the word is that Sprint will be notifying users of the availability of the update as of the 20th June.
When you install the Android Gingerbread update to your smartphone the system software should be 2.76.651.4, and other than the usual Gingerbread delivers, the update will also bring a download manager, a fix for issues when playing streaming media and Swype.
So there you go, for any user of the Sprint HTC EVO Shift 4G who hasn’t yet got that leaked update, keep your eyes open sometime tomorrow to grab it, or you could hang around for Sprint to notify you.
