Well the reign of the Meego smartphone didn’t actually last long as apparently the word hitting the net waves is even if the first Meego handset, the Nokia N9 is a success; the Nokia N9 is actually the first and last Meego device the mobile world will get.
According to the guys over at Ubergizmo, and by way of My Nokia Blog, Finnish newspaper Talouselama is reporting that Nokia boss Stephen Elop has stated that Nkoia will not be coming back to Meego.
Here’s what the newspaper posted (translated), “But even on that phone sales would be a success, Nokia has no intention of coming back Meego smartphone operating system, says CEO Stephen Elop”
However, apparently the product manager for Nokia, Jussi Mäkinen apparently holds a more positive view on the Nokia N9 and Meego, and tweeted… “The innovations in design, UI, and the Qt developer experience in Nokia N9 will live on in a variety of ways in Nokia.”
Having said that, we know Nokia is now commited to delivering Windows Phone 7 handsets so perhaps with the arrival of the Nokia N9 it is the final nail in the Meego coffin, what do you think, should Nokia push out more Meego device or not?
