The HTC ChaCha, known, as a Facebook phone due to sporting a dedicated Facebook button, will be dancing it way to AT&T at some point in the not too distant future, however apparently the HTC ChaCha will not be retaining the ChaCha name and will be renamed for AT&T.

According to an article over on Slash Gear, the Boy Genius Report guys are saying they have heard from a “trusted source” that the HTC ChaCha will be known as the HTC Status when it hit the AT&T network.

Apparently though the guys have now confirmed with HTC that the other HTC Facebook optimised Android smartphone, the HTC Salsa will not be joining its sibling device on AT&T anytime soon if at all.

As for the release of the HTC Status for AT&T, apparently their source claims that the launch of the AT&T HTC Status could happen as soon as a week’s time, no work on what AT&T will be asking for the HTC Status as yet though, so more as and when we hear.
