BlackBerry PlayBook 10-inch Ditched for QNX Smartphone
Well the rumour hitting the net waves is apparently Research In Motion may not be putting out a 10-inch version of the BlackBerry PlayBook as first though, the reason apparently is that RIM has decided to ditch the larger BlackBerry PlayBook in favour of pushing out the first QNX based BlackBerry smartphone.
According to an article over on Technobuffalo the guys over at N4bb are claiming that RIM has abandoned the 10-inch BlackBerry slate or if you prefer the BlackBerry PlayBook 2 and are to focus on delivering the first BlackBerry Superphone to be based on the QNX platform.
No word on what this QNX Superphone will be called by there are a few details available on the device, which are, the BlackBerry smartphone will sport a 4.3-inch touch screen with 900+ screen resolution and single code 1.2GHz processor the same as found in the BlackBerry Bold 9900.
As for the BlackBerry tablet front, well RIM isn’t apparently abandoning the tablet game just yet as word has it they are currently looking to push out a 4G LTE enabled BlackBerry PlayBook with a possible launch date sometime in October.
So there you have it, if true you wont be seeing a larger PlayBook anytime soon but you just might see a new smartphone from the RIM camp, now whether a QNX smartphone will turn RIM’s fortunes around is another matter.
