Gingerbread for Droid Delayed Due to Verizon Rejection
For all you Motorola Droid device owners on the Verizon network who have been patiently awaiting the arrive of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update to your chosen Droid smartphone, it appears that you are in for a bit of a disappointment in the short term anyway as the Gingerbread update had apparently been held back for most Droid devices.
According to an article over on Ubergizmo by way of Phone Dog and Droid-life, the reason for numerous Droid smartphones being left with Android 2.2 Froyo for the time being is the Big Red has seen fit to reject all builds of Gingerbread.
Apparently the rejections are due to a “list of bugs” that are present in the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update that the Motorola Droid X has already received, and thus until such times as those bugs are sorted out Verizon will not roll out the update.
According to the article there’s no word on when other Motorola Droid devices are likely to see the Gingerbread update released, but the word is according to an insider that Motorola is working hard on solving the issues.
So there you go, if you have a Droid device other than the Motorola Droid X your wait for that Gingerbread update will continue for the foreseeable future, does this annoy you or are you quite happy to roll along with Froyo until the update can be delivered bug free?

According to the source, it may take Motorola another month to tweak the
code, get it back to Verizon for review, and see the update sent out to
Droid X users.
