Android Honeycomb Update For India Acer Iconia Tab A500 Next Month
The Acer Iconia Tab A500 as expected has started seeing the international roll out of the upgrade to Android 3.1 Honeycomb for the Android slate, however not all have gained said upgrade yet, and it appears India is likely to have to wait a while longer before Iconia Tab A500 users can play with Android 3.1 Honeycomb.
According to an article over on MSN News, according to Acer the reason for the delay in pushing out the Android 3.1 Honeycomb upgrade to the Indian version of the Acer Iconia Tab A500 is that there is a “lack of proper support by telecom operators.”
Although according to the article Acers excuse isn’t going down all that well with their tablet users in India as apparently HTC tablets in India have already seen an over the air update to Android 3.1 Honeycomb, so obviously it would appear that HTC doesn’t have any issues with delivering Android 3.1 Honeycomb to their offerings in India.
Thus apparently the new expected roll out of the Android 3.1 Honeycomb upgrade for the Acer Iconia Tab A500 in India is expected to be sometime in August. Amongst the advantages the Android upgrade will deliver is improved WiFi networking, support for video, files format, Microsoft Exchange server, the ability to resize widgets to suit your personal layout and appearance, and more.
The managing director of Acer India, W.S. Mukung, during the launch of the Android Acer Tab Series of devices in India said, “With the launch of the Iconia range of tablets in India, we believe this technology will change the dynamics of consuming digital content. With the growing demand for the tablets in India, we expect tablets to significantly contribute to our overall revenue in the calendar year 2011.”
